About Us

From an early age, we learn to build, to craft, to express ourselves through making. It’s one thing that can unite us regardless of age, race or creed. Maker’s care combines the joy of building with an impact that changes lives.

As a parent, nothing affects me as emotionally and deeply as knowing there are sick children and kids with medical conditions that prevent them from experiencing carefree childhoods the way most of us did and how most of our own kids take for granted. In 2015 I founded Makers Care as a way for creative and artistic people to use our talents to help out children in need by doing what we do best: making things. Since then, I have discovered just how generous the maker community is. We have raised thousands of dollars for children’s charities.

we are pledging our donations to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

This year we are pledging our donations to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. They raise funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. When you contribute to maker’s care to support Children’s Miracle Network, donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. That means whether you’re in CA or PA, your donation goes towards helping kids near you who need it most. Your projects share a story, and spread a message of hope. The awareness you raise and the money you donate, goes to help these children. When you hashtag, or share our video, you tell the world how you want to use your crafting, baking, woodworking, homesteading, or any other skill to change lives. We can join together through making together. These projects bring us closer. So share your project, share your story, and help us help our kids.

This years theme is: MAKE Time For Play

Here’s how it works: Make a toy, game, or create a work of art using any materials you like! We’ll be making donations for every project submitted.

What You can submit

Our goal is to get as many people involved as possible and raise as much money to help kids with life-threatening medical conditions. We won’t exclude any family friendly projects from participating. All you need to do is Make Time for Play!

The possibilities are endless!

  • Wood
  • Food
  • Needlework
  • Metal
  • Painting/Drawing
  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Knitting/Crocheting
  • Legos
  • Chalk
  • Ceramics
  • Anything else! Get creative!

After you’ve completed your project, take a good photo of it and submit it to Makers Care. Please consider making a $5 or greater donation at the same time! Another way to help out is to tell others about your contributions and share Makers Care with your social networks. Please use the official hashtag: #makerscare17 #maketime4play.

YouTubers: Make a video

One of the best ways to inspire and motivate people is to make a video showing what you make! We want to see your build videos. Again, get as creative as you want.

You don’t have to have any experience to shoot a video! Just grab your smart phone or camera and start documenting your project as you make it. Please mention how you are helping to raise funds for children with life-threatening conditions and encourage (or challenge!) your viewers to make their own MAKE Time for Play Projects or video and to visit MakersCare.org to post their projects and to make a donation.

When you are done with your video, post it on YouTube and then submit the link here on the Makers Care web site. We’ll get your video added to the video gallery within 24 hours. When submitting your video, please consider making a $5 or greater donation at that time. (Not a requirement!)

Make a direct donation

Of course your direct donations make a huge difference! Just head over to the Makers Care team page and contribute whatever you can to help us reach our goal. Plus you can check our progress! Our goal is $6000.

Spread the word

If you feel you can’t or simply don’t have time or resources to make a project, you can still help out a lot! Mostly by spreading the word about Makers Care. The more people who are aware of this campaign, the more people we can get involved and the more kids we are able to help. All you have to do is tell people in you social networks, and of course, mention #makerscare17 #maketime4play.
